Collecting Hercules & Xena Autographs & Memorabilia

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and its spin-off Xena: Warrior Princess built a shared universe — and a fandom that has kept both casts signing for years.

The Hercules and Xena shows ran through the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s, filmed in New Zealand and sharing characters, crew and tone. For collectors, the two series are effectively one connected world with two lead-driven casts.

Hercules is led by Kevin Sorbo in the title role, while Xena centres on Lucy Lawless (Xena) and Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle). Recurring antagonists and allies broaden the field, with performers such as Hudson Leick (Callisto) among the sought signers. Because characters crossed between the shows, a collection built around one series naturally reaches into the other.

Two shows, one fandom

The shared universe means many performers appear on material from both series, and dedicated conventions have hosted cast reunions over the years. The action-fantasy imagery — armour, weapons, the New Zealand landscapes — gives signed stills strong display appeal.

Lead portraits

Sorbo, Lawless and O'Connor stills are the most collected single signatures.

Crossover pieces

Items tying the two shows together appeal to collectors of the whole universe.

Convention material

Dedicated fan events produced much of the genuine signed stock.

Collecting notes

These casts have signed frequently at fan events, which is good for availability but means the usual care around secondary-market items applies:

  • Prefer witnessed signings. The strongest provenance comes from watching an item be signed at a show. See our conventions guide.
  • Know each lead's hand. Lawless, O'Connor and Sorbo all have consistent, recognisable signatures worth learning from genuine references.
  • Be careful with dual-lead pieces. Items pairing Lawless and O'Connor are especially popular and therefore a natural forgery target.
  • Don't let a certificate do all the work. Our authentication guide covers how to judge provenance in the round.

Collectors of lead-driven genre TV often pair these shows with Andromeda, which also stars Kevin Sorbo, and the Star Trek series.
